I will begin this posting tonight by saying that keeping up with three young children is tough! I am not writing this to gain any sympathy or praises. It is 7:30 p.m. and I am sitting here eating a peanut butter sandwich. This is the first time I have sat down all day and eaten something. I have grazed throughout the day on things but nothing substantial by any means! When people tell me that I don't look like I just gave birth to twins I tell them that keeping up with all three of these kids is why! Sometimes I think back on my day and really do wonder how I got through it. I feel very lucky that God has given me the energy to get by. Somehow tonight I managed to pack Ben's school bag, clean up the playroom, kitchen and wash bottles, clean up the back yard toys, feed the babies and Ben and bathe all three children and put them all to bed. When I get in bed at night my whole body aches and I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. But somehow when that first baby cries I am up and somehow each morning I pop out of bed around 5:30 and start all over again. That being said, we had a very fun exciting day.
I have recently became friends with a neighbor whose husband works on the same ship as Grant. She has only been here a few weeks longer than us but knows of several fun places to go. Today there was a tuna festival - the Wai Wai festival - happening at a local park. There was supposed to be a large tuna fish there for everyone to buy pieces of but we never quite figured out where the tuna was. There were several produce booths though and snow cones! We didn't stay long at the festival because a little further in the park was a nice play area and that was what the kids were more interested in! Jane has three girls, 4, 2, & 1. Her 4 year old goes to the same Japanese preschool as Ben but is in a different class. Another of Jane's friends was there with two boys I think around 4 & 2. This park is called peacock park and for good reason - as you are walking into the park area you immediately see a huge peacock habitat! They also have flamingos, rabbits, chickens and ponies plus bumper cars and a playground with kid friendly zip lines. Japan parks are soooo different from American parks. Never in an American park would you walk right into a public park and see these kinds of things. They are not amusement parks or zoos they are just parks with no attendants, everything is a free for all!
Tomorrow is another day of school for Ben. I am really enjoy the whole Japanese preschool experience and I think Ben is too. So far he has not balked at going and has not cried. One of these days I am going to try to go during the school day and take pictures. I want to make sure he remembers this!
Time for me to read the paper and do one final feeding with the babies before lights out. Good night.
