Yesterday (Sunday) I decided that it would be fun for us to go back to Bio Park. This time I opted to get us season passes. It only takes us about 15 minutes to get there, the drive is beautiful and we have a great time there! We got there early, before the crowds and got to see a lot of neat animals.
Ben in front of a llama???
Feeding the flamingos. They come right up to you and eat out of your hand. They can be a bit aggressive though so Ben opted to either feed them in the cup or have me feed them.
Having our snack break. Ben rode on the front of the stroller for a good portion of the day because I wanted to hurry up to the hippos for feeding time. The hippos are the very last stop in the park so we had to make our way completely around to get there in time. Bio Park is very hilly so I got in a great workout!
Hanging out with a kangaroo. If you saw the pictures on my facebook awhile back I had a picture of a monkey eating Ben's fruit snack. Well this time a monkey jumped on his hat and one jumped on the stroller again looking for food. Man they sure are agressive. I didn't take any pictures this time because I was in too much of a hurry to get to the hippo feeding!
At the hippo feeding - notice the two chunks of cabbage. Piper and Nate wanted in on the action. They both actually got a good look at the hippos because we were there so long they both got fussy so I took them each out to have a look around. They were satisfied with what they saw and so were all of the Japanese - kawaii!! Actually at the hippo feeding there were triplet Japanese girls!!! A rarity here!!!
Look at that big ole mouth! I couldn't tell if the trainer was saying the hippos name or a Japanese word for hippo - it sounded like momo - but regardless, he would say momo and the hippos would open their mouths and you threw the cabbage straight into their throats. I paid 100 yen or $1 for two chunks of cabbage and a animal trading card. Ben loved it.
Open wide momo!
The drive home from Bio Park. I know we just came from a beautiful place but it is very beautiful here too. It was also a nice fall day - such a change from hot and sticky Hawaii.
Ben sacked out on our way home.
Toll roads are everywhere here! I always have to make sure I have change with me!! Ben loves them. He thinks the gates and toll booths are great.
Today (Monday) we got a kite from the Exchange. I took Ben to get our flu shots and a haircut and it took so long he ended up not going to school. He didn't care though because we got Dunkin Donuts and he got a kite! It was such a nice fall day we spent the afternoon out front trying to fly the $2 kite. Trust me - it was the quality of a $2 kite. Oh well, we had a fun time. We did get it to go up in the air a few times. We also had to patch it with tape and staples a few times as well. Maybe for Christmas Santa will bring him a good kite. On Wed. I am going to venture to Nagasaki which is about 45 minutes away with a neighbor to go to Toys R Us!!!
The babies hanging out outside while we flew the kite. They didn't really like the brightness, plus they were tired.
My growing collection of McDonald's toys. I think I need to run tomorrow after looking at all of these. Ben helped me eat a few of the Happy Meals!!
This picture doesn't really do Nate's eyes justice. I was trying tonight to get a good picture of his bright blue eyes. If you expand the picture they look a little brighter. I hope they stay this way!!
Since we played hookey today, we will have to get back in the swing of things tomorrow. Ben will be back at school and I will finally tackle the huge pile of clean laundry that needs to be folded, should be fun....
