Yokosuka - Day 3

On Tuesday Grant had to work so the kids and I ventured out on our own. We rented a car which helped me get around the base and do my favorite thing - shop!!

This is the USS TORTUGA from Sasebo. We couldn't escape reminders of home!

I was so blessed while I was in Yokosuka by my friend Elizabeth. Even though she was hosting a Christmas party that night at her house, she volunteered to watch Nate and Piper while Ben and I explored one of the shopping malls outside of the gate. This mall really wasn't your typical Western mall. It was similar to one big department store with a supermarket on the bottom. Unfortunately they didn't have any maps in English either so we just wandered around for a little bit.

Inside the mall.

Ben enjoying a strawberry milk from one of the many vending machines stationed around Japan.

Japanese style Christmas stockings. It is basically a cardboard stocking with food inside. Santa may bring Ben one that is Anpanman themed!

Jellyfish in the harbor right in front of the gate to the base. Yuck!

Grant's boss from San Diego is now retired and is working on base in Yokosuka. We have kept up with him over the years and we met up with him at a yummy Italian restaurant on base. This is a scary Hoss picture! I think I will now call him Dr. Evil! Dr Evil, please don't hurt my baby!
